Hi. I'm Molly Mapes

For as long as I can remember, I had a burning desire in my heart to be and do more with my career and ultimately my life.

Except, there seemed to be some details missing...

In fact, most mornings, I would wake up thinking “Ugh, I don’t want to feel this way anymore. Something has to change.” But I continued thinking something had to change and feeling like crap for a really long time.

I believed I didn’t know what to do.  I felt like I didn’t really even know how to get started. I wondered if I even had the energy to get started. Truth be told, I secretly feared that this was really as good as my life was going to get and I needed to just accept it.

I’ve worked in corporate recruiting and human resources for over 15 years. I hated wearing a suit. I never embraced corporate politics. I could play the game but I really didn’t want to anymore. I couldn’t see myself continuing to do this type of work, in the way I was doing it, for the next 20 or so years.

I wanted more freedom. I wanted to feel more joy in my every day. I wanted my mind to be less anxious and fearful. I wanted lightness in my heart. I wanted to feel a spark for life in my soul again.

And then I came across this quote:

“At the center of your being you know who you are and you know what you want. ~ Lao Tzu

I decided, right then, that even though I had no idea how the vision for my life was going to become my reality, I knew that I was going to die trying. Because either way, my soul felt like it was slowly and painfully dying every day if I kept going the way I was going. And this was not a way I wanted to live.

And so the job of re-claiming my soul, my career, and my life began.

I put myself on a two-year timeline of discovery to start creating the life I had envisioned. I started taking small steps and then bigger ones.

I completed my first half marathon after training for only 3 months (it had been on my bucket list for 10 years). In doing something I thought was impossible, I started to slowly realize, I was capable of WAY more than I ever thought I was.

I started to wonder what I else I was capable of doing? I went on a vision quest where I sat on a rock for four days with no food and only a gallon of water because that was on my list too. And while I didn’t get the answers I thought I would, I had more evidence I was capable of doing what a lot of people thought was impossible and I had some amazing things happen.

I kept building my courage muscle. I kept creating evidence of ALL the things I could do!

I followed my heart and figured out a way to do the thing I always wanted to do. “Sit on a couch, in my jeans, and help other people.” In fact, this is always what I told people I wanted to do when I graduated from college with a degree in Psychology.

While I continued to work at my 9-5, I went through an almost year-long training to become a certified Martha Beck Life Coach.  After experiencing the powerful results of coaching and my own life transforming before my eyes (unlike anything I had ever experienced), I was even more convinced of my work in the world. I knew that my work in the world was to help other people find their work in the world.

Today, my life and my career is shaping up to be even BETTER than the vision I had for myself originally.

I wrote a book (something else I always wanted to do). I have a growing Career/Life Coaching practice and am supporting clients to create their own Career Revolutions. Through private coachingprograms, and retreats I’ve seen clients transform. Clients got their confidence back, felt more in control over their own destinies, and ultimately are living lives that matter to them.

And I still love the work I do to help companies hire the best and the brightest. I now only do the kind of work that brings me immense joy and fufillment. I choose. And so can you!
